I have many shawls and scarves in my wardrobe collection. I feel these are necessary additions in every woman’s wardrobe. But this cashmere shawl I got from Amazon has simply become my pet choice. The material is quite soft on the skin. I believe that cashmere has certainly got the upper hand over silk. I love the feel of cashmere on my shoulders. The buff color in my shawl is a bit lighter than expected and the crimson a deeper shade than the picture showed, but the design is as shown in the picture. The paisley Indian pine cone designs are intricate and well done on the shawl.
I am not an expert in analyzing fabrics. But the shawl is supposed to be made out of wool and the tag says it is 100% wool. This does explain the comfort the shawl provides during winter evenings. Even though it is quite light weight, it does keep me warm when I am out and about. It can very well be wrapped on the body. I am not really slender, but I am able to wrap it on my shoulders and the shawl easily reaches my waist. The size of the shawl is 80 inches by 40 inches as advertised. The braids at the end of the shawl provide a nice feel to the accessory. I have used it on many evenings now. The only problem is in cleaning the shawl. I got a red stain on the shawl and I had to give it for dry cleaning immediately. I do not believe this shawl is something you could run in your washing machine even in the delicate settings for wool.
The material itself is quite soft and has become my favorite for now. The stitches seem to be strong and no thread has pulled or come loose until now. The stitches are not visible, so you could really use it on the reverse too. The color on the reverse is a bit different from the front. When I got the shawl delivered, I found that the lighter color on the product I received was a bit dull than the one shown in the picture. The shawl could be used together with some evening dresses. It would suit me any day I have to step outside in the cold without my hardy jacket. The advertiser has provided ad for this shawl detailing its uses as a blanket or a throw.
I have not tried using the shawl for this purpose. But I believe, it would be quite useful as a blanket. However I am not in a mood to use the $200 woolen shawl as a blanket on my bed. It is true that it might look well on the sofa in your living room if the décor of your home matches this dark maroon and buff color. I am happy to use it for the purpose I bought it for that is as a shawl to accompany me on a winter day. I would recommend it.
